Today Running is a privacy-first running app. You do not create an account and you do not log in.
The app uses GPS while you run, but your actual location and route are never uploaded. They stay only on your phone. Our servers receive only a numeric summary of each run (distance, time, pace, score) so we can build the "today" leaderboard.
When you first open the app it registers an anonymous runner. We store: an anonymous runner ID, a hash of your access token (never the token itself), an auto-generated nickname, your app language, and your app version.
When you finish a run, the app sends a run summary: distance, moving time, elapsed time, average pace, average and maximum speed, a computed score, your goal type and whether it was achieved, and GPS quality figures (number of accepted/rejected points, average accuracy, abnormal-jump count, GPS duration).
We never receive or store latitude/longitude, route paths, polylines, route signatures, start or end locations, map images, or photos.
Your detailed GPS path, on-map route, per-kilometer splits, route badges, route thumbnails, certification cards, and any camera photos you take are stored locally on your device only.
When you create or share a certification image, location metadata (EXIF) is removed and is not embedded in the saved or shared image.
Location (including while running in the background): used solely on-device to measure distance, pace, and your route during an active run. Background access keeps tracking accurate when your screen is off.
Camera: used only when you choose to take a certification photo. Notifications: used to show the live run status and let you pause/resume.
Run summaries are used to compute and display the daily leaderboard (score, distance, and pace tabs) and your rank. Your nickname is shown on the leaderboard.
We host the backend on Cloudflare (Workers, D1, Pages). Run summaries are stored there on our behalf.
This version of the app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no tracking. We do not sell your data.
You can erase all on-device data at any time from Settings → Reset data. To request deletion of your server-side runner record and run summaries, contact us at the address below; because runners are anonymous, please reach out from the device in question.
Today Running is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Cloudflare may process data in data centers outside your country. The data we process is limited to the anonymous summary described above.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
